It showed up on my momentum scanner early this morning, and each time it made a new high, the real-time alerts kept popping. Right around $6, I alerted the room, saying if it breaks that level, we could see some action. So, I did my homework, checked for news, and found a tie to AstraZeneca. But here’s the thing—the pre-market news didn’t seem strong enough to justify the move. It wasn’t until around 10:30 AM Eastern that things really started taking off.

Now, I had my alert set at $6.04 and was all set to get in, but it jumped too fast for me. Could I have chased it? Sure, but that’s not my style. Hindsight’s always 20/20, but I don’t chase stocks. The move from $6 to $22 was incredible, and even though I missed it, a lot of traders in our room nailed it, and that’s what I love to see.

Why did this happen? Well, it all comes down to low float—just 1.9 million shares in the float. That means when a stock like MNPR gets picked up by scanners, the sky’s the limit. Does the stock warrant this kind of jump just because of the news? Probably not, but with a low float, anything can happen.

Even though it pulled back a bit, it could still have more in the tank. These are the trades that keep things exciting, but the lesson here is to stay disciplined. Sometimes the stock moves too quickly, and that’s OK. The key is sticking to the plan and not chasing after it.
